"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you" (John 15:16)
The Bible, the unchanging Standard of God, states categorically that God wants us to be fruitful and multiply. In the Book of Genesis 1:28, the Bible declares that we are CREATED by God to be fruitful, replenish and subdue the earth. This declaration comes in the form of blessings released by God upon man. This means, each creature is expected to bear fruit and produce others. No one is expected to be barren and fruitless. God's desire for us to be fruitful becomes more pronounced when we are born-again. Everyone who, has met Christ, has surrendered his life to Him, and has turned away from ALL sins no matter how little, is commanded to reproduce and bear fruit (John 15:16,8; Matthew 3:8; 12:33; Matthew 7:16,19; Colossians 1:10; Ephesians 5:9; Psalm 1:3).
Have you met the Lord? Have you turned away totally from sin and its lusts? Have you turned from the world and its affections? Have you surrendered your life totally unto the Lord? Then, you need to reproduce and be fruitful. Anyone who is unfruitful and do not reproduce has not met the Lord.
JESUS DESIRES US TO REPRODUCE AND BE FRUITFUL
From the teachings and actions of our Lord, we see that He so much desires fruitfulness and reproduction. Fig trees are expected to produce fruits at the same time as they produce leaves. But the fig tree in Mark 1:13,14 produced leaves in full but had no fruits at all. This was a misnomer and a reversal of the order of things. So it was cursed by the Lord. The Lord wants us to bear "fruit" (John 15:2), bear "more fruit" (John 15:2), bear "much fruit" (John 15:5). Many Christians are like the fig tree of Mark 11:13, 14,20! They are enjoying nourishment from the Lord which should make them fruitful; but sadly, they are fruitless and unproductive. If you are truly born-again, you are to be fruitful in your Christian life, in your communion with God, and in your service in God's vineyard.
THE HOLY SPIRIT IS IN US TO MAKE US FRUITFUL
(Galatians 5:22,23; Ephesians 5:9)
The abiding presence of the Holy Spirit is in our hearts, first, to produce the fruit of righteousness and godly living (i.e, glorious life of holiness that pleases the Lord), and then, with the gifts He has given us, to make us reproduce and be fruitful in every area of our Christian life. God regards any believer who refuses to reproduce and be fruitful despite the blessings, gifts and graces that He has given us, as unprofitable to Him and His kingdom (1 Corinthians 12:7; Matthew 25:14-30).
GOD'S WRATH AND CURSE IS UPON FRUITLESSNESS IN THE FAITH
Scriptures states clearly that God's wrath abides on those who are fruitless and spiritually barren. He will cut them down (John 15:2,6; Hebrews 6:8). He has prepared burning, cut off and total wipe off for those who fail to reproduce and be fruitful.
GOD'S BLESSINGS ON THOSE WHO REPRODUCE AND ARE FRUITFUL
(Hebrews 6:7; John 15:1-5)
God's blessing abides on those who are fruitful. Brethren who prove that they are profitable and result oriented will be blessed and prospered by God. They will be tenderly cared for, washed, renewed and purged so that they might bring forth much more fruit unto God. The heavens rejoice and God is glorified when we are fruitful and justify the grace of God upon our lives (John 15:8). God wants us to be fruitful in our personal Bible study life with clear growth results. He wants us to be fruitful in our prayer life with growth and powerful testimonies following us. God wants us to be fruitful in our worship of Him with heavy downpour of blessings from above. God wants us to be fruitful in evangelism with souls won to His kingdom. We are to be fruitful in faith, holy living, God's assignment in the church, and in Christ life manifest in every area of our lives. Why not rise up today and cry to the Lord to help you to be fruitful? He is willing. He will help you.
