Matthew 11:28-29
The study today becomes necessary so that we may know whether we are truly sanctified or not; and whether the experiences we have are genuine or not. There are people who love to claim to possess what they do not have (Proverbs 30:12; Jeremiah 8:11-15). Some are not sanctified, yet they claim to be sanctified. There are some who claim to be saved yet they are still committing sins (Titus 1:16; Psalm 78:35,36). This is a lie and a horrible sin against God. God has provided a way through which we can know if what we have is from Him or not. We know the things that happen in our hearts, don't we? This is what will help us to know if we are truly sanctified or we are not truly sanctified (Luke 6:44,45). It is possible to have talents and be able to do one thing or the other in the church, and yet have no salvation, talk less of the purity of heart received through sanctification experience (1 Corinthians 13:1,2). Any experience of sanctification which does not have a practical proven effect on the receiver, both inwardly and outwardly, is not a genuine experience (James 2: 18-20; Ezekiel 36:26,27). If we have not gotten the true experience, the Lord is waiting today to mightily bless us as we pray.
CLEAR EVIDENCES OF A SANCTIFIED LIFE
(1). Freedom And Victory In The Heart (Matthew 11:28,29).
The Lord promises to give two kinds of "rest" to those who come to Him. First is REST (of SALVATION) to anyone who comes to and surrenders his load of sin at the cross. Second is REST (of SANCTIFICATION) to any believer who will "take" His "yoke upon" him, "learn of Him and are desirous to be like Him. There will be no more room for evil thoughts and sinful desires in your heart because "the body of sin" is totally gone (Ezekiel 36:26,27). The Lord will reign and control your heart without any rival, so you will not be struggling to be pure in your heart any more. You will be pure within and be free from all pride, anger, selfishness, inordinate affections and many more (Ephesians 5:26,27; 1 Thessalonians 5:23). Even if the devil comes to interfere in your heart, you will have immediate victory.
(2). Perfect Love Of God In The Heart (Deuteronomy 30:6; Mathew 22:37).
When you are sanctified, it will be very easy for you to, LOVE GOD with all your heart (Matthew 22:37), LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR as yourself (Mathew 22:39), and LOVE OTHER CHILDREN OF GOD even as Jesus loves us /John 15:13; 1 John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 13:4-8).
(3). Right Motive In All Things (Philippians 2:5).
When you are truly sanctified, there will be no more room for hypocrisy and self-display in your life. Whatever you will do, you do it with the right motive (John 4:34). The praise of men will be nothing to you (1 Thessalonians 2:3-9). All that concerns you now is: to please God only (Galatians 1:10). If you pray, sing: worship, contribute money, or sponsor any church. project, all will be to please the Lord only (John 8:29).
(4). Holiness In Thoughts, Word And Actions
(Matthew 5:8). When a believer is sanctified, his heart will be pure, his words will be pure, and his actions both secret and open will be pure. If our heart is still full of strange, unclean and ungodly thought, then we are not yet sanctified (Matthew 12:33-35).
(5) Oneness With God And Other Believers
(Hebrews 2:11). When we are sanctified, there is oneness between us and Christ who sanctified us. More so, we will be at peace and unity with the brethren, yet without compromising our faith (John 17:17, 20-23). When you are sanctified, your own will be completely swallowed up in the will of God (John 5:30). One of the reasons why there is so much confusion and disunity in so many churches today, is because so many of churcheous people do not have genuine experiences with God. There can't be divisions among those who are living sanctified life, just as there cannot be unity in the assembly of baptized sinners. When you are truly sanctified, you will be able to reach the standard of God expected of His people (Matthew 5:45-48; Titus 2:14; 1 Peter 1:15; Revelation 19:8; 1 John 4:17).
Beloved, If the experience we have does not produce these proven evidence, then we need to come sincerely to The Lord Jesus, that He might sanctify us today.
