The life of a believer is a testament to the transformative power of Christ's redeeming love. As followers of Jesus, we are called to live each day in reverence and dedication to Him.
Living daily for Christ, our Great Redeemer, is the highest calling of every believer. It is a life that is rooted in gratitude for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who redeemed us from sin and death with His precious blood This redemption demands our total surrender to Him and a daily commitment to live in holiness, faithfulness, and obedience. To live for Christ is to walk in the power of His resurrection and reflect His love and light in a dark world. Christ's redeeming work has placed us under His lordship, and our daily lives should glorify Him.
The Bible says, "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:20).
To live daily for Christ, three things are required:
1. Dying Daily to Self
2. Dwelling Continually in His Presence
3. Declaring Boldly His Redemption
DYING DAILY TO SELF
Luke 9:23; Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 2:20
Living for Christ begins with denying oneself and taking up the cross daily. Jesus said, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me" (Luke 9:23). This implies a conscious decision to renounce self-will, worldly ambitions, and sinful desires in order to follow Christ wholeheartedly. Paul explains this further in Galatians 2:20: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me." To die to self means allowing Christ to live through us, letting His priorities become our priorities, and His will become our will. Presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, is the essence of true worship (Romans 12:1). As we renew our minds daily through the Word of God, we will be transformed to live in alignment with His perfect will (Romans 12:2). By dying daily to self, we allow Christ to reign supreme in our lives.
DWELLING CONTINUALLY IN HIS PRESENCE
Psalm 91:1; John 15:4-5; Colossians 3:16
To live daily for Christ, we must remain in constant communion with Him. Jesus said, "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me" (John 15:4). Dwelling in His presence involves staying connected to Him through prayer, worship, and meditation on His Word. The psalmist declares, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty" (Psalm 91:1). By spending time in God's presence, we receive strength, guidance, and grace to navigate the challenges of daily life.
Moreover, we are to let the Word of Christ dwell richly in us (Colossians 3:16). This means studying, meditating on, and obeying the Scriptures so that they shape our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. A life lived in God's presence is a life of fruitfulness, peace, and victory.
DECLARING BOLDLY HIS REDEMPTION EVERYWHERE
Matthew 28: 19-20; 1 Peter 2:9; Romans 1:16
Living daily for Christ includes proclaiming His redemption to the world. Jesus gave us the Great Commission, saying, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 28:19). We are called to be His ambassadors, sharing the message of salvation with boldness and compassion. Peter reminds us of our identity and purpose: "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light" (1Peter 2:9). As redeemed believers, we have the privilege and responsibility to testify of God's grace and power. Paul exemplified this boldness when he declared, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth" (Romans 1:16). We, too, must boldly declare Christ's redeeming love through our words and actions, demonstrating His transformative power in our lives.
By dying to self, dwelling in His presence, and declaring His redemption, we fulfill our calling to live daily for Christ, our Great Redeemer. This life brings glory to God and draws others to His saving grace.
